Balance by Exchange

The "Balance by Exchange" page shows the balances based on all imported transactions, grouped by exchange name.

How to get there:

To find the "Balance by Exchangereport on CoinTracking, go to Reporting - "Balance by Exchange"

The balance by exchange page is showing your balances based on all imported and calculated transactions.

Ideally, the numbers showing up on this page should match your API Live Data.

Please note, that the Live API Data balance only shows wallets/exchanges imported via API and via blockchain imports.

The "Balance by Exchange" report offers different features, filters as well as download options for an optimal overview of your balances.

This article is separated into four sections:

1) Calculate current assets with historical prices

2) Export Balance by Exchange data via Excel, CSV or PDF

3) Filter options

4) Total values and download options

1) Calculate current assets with historical prices

Please note that this setting is optional and for users with advanced experience.

This setting allows you to see the historical prices of the assets you currently own. It does not take into account how many assets you had on that day.

If you want to see the actual amount and prices of the assets you held on a previous day, please use the 'End date' setting in the filter option below.

Please note that in order to view the desired end date balance, you must set the end date one day in the future because the balance is taken a few minutes after midnight at the start of the day.

For example: You want to see your balances and prices for the date "31.12.2022".

In order to show the correct balances, you then need to set the End Date filter to "01.01.2023".

2) Export Balance by Exchange data via Excel, CSV or PDF

You can use this option in order to export all values associated with each exchange shown on the page as an Excel, CSV or PDF document.

3) Filter options

Here, you can use different filter options in order to display your balances.

These options include:

Grouped by Exchange/ Trade Group / Trade Type:

You can either display all coins grouped by their Exchanges, Trade-Group or Trade Type.

Grouped by exchange:

This option shows your balances for all your exchanges and wallets in alphabetical order.

Grouped by Trade Group:

This option shows your balances, sorted by Trade Group, and in alphabetical order.

Grouped by Trade Type:

This option shows your balances, sorted by Trade Type (Trade, Deposit, Withdrawal, Income etc.)

Hide 0 balances: This filter can be used in order to display or hide coin balances which are 0.

If the balance by exchange page is showing you a lot of coins with an amount of 0, you can use this filter to get a better overview, by hiding them.

All currencies: With this option you can either display all currencies, only digital currencies, only commodities (Gold, Silver, etc.) or only real currencies (FIAT).

Sort by Type & Coin and Type & Value:

Here you have two options:

1) Sort by Type & Coin:

Sort your balances by Type (Bitcoin, Altcoins, Fiats) and coin name in alphabetical order.

2) Sort by Type & Value:

Sort your balances by Type (Bitcoin, Altcoins, Fiats) and their current value (descending).

Here, we will highlight the differences between these two settings:

Setting "Sort by Type & Coin":

Your coin balances are sorted by type and in alphabetical order.

Setting: "Sort by Type & Value":

For the same wallet, the balances are no longer displayed alphabetically, but by value, which explains the different order.

Filter: Here, you can use various filters to show/hide different values on the Balance by Exchange page:

4) Total values and download options

The displayed balances give you information such as the amount, the values at the time of the transaction, the current value and the total value in USD and BTC.

Amount: The total amount of each token which you are currently holding in a specific exchange or wallet.

Value at transaction in USD: The sum of transactions with their converted historical value at the time of the transaction, shown in USD.

Value at transaction in BTC: The sum of transactions with their converted historical value at the time of the transaction shown in BTC. The values can be negative if the value of all incoming/purchased coins is lower than the value of all outgoing/sold coins.

An example: You bought 1 BTC for 1000 USD/BTC.

Then you sold 0.5 BTC for 4000 USD/BTC (value = 2000 USD). As a result, you get 0.5 BTC, value at transaction = -1000 USD (since 1000 - 2000 = -1000).

Current value in USD: The current market value of your coin in USD.

Current value in BTC: The current market value of your coin in BTC.

TOTAL: Here you can see the totals for each value.

If you scroll to the bottom of the page, you can see the total values of your balances, as well as the total balance of all your balances combined.

Right below the totals, there's a pie chart showing the total coin value by exchange, as well as the total account value by exchange:

Total Coin Value: The total value of all coins (Fiats not included).

different from Reported Balance
Total Account Value: The total value of ALL currencies (Fiats included).

Both pie charts contain only positive values.

Furthermore, if you click on the icon right next to the pie chart, you'll see various options such as viewing the chart in full screen and the option to print/download the chart in different formats.
