Coin Price / Value Does Not Seem Correct

TL;DR

If a transaction seems to show the wrong value, it's usually due to missing or inaccurate asset values. You can manually correct these in the Transactions page.

Why Does the Price Look Off?

When entering a transaction in CoinTracking:

  • You can manually define the asset value using “Edit Asset Value.”

  • If left blank, CoinTracking uses historical prices from external sources to estimate the value.

Discrepancies can occur due to:

  • Market price fluctuations at the time of trade

  • Different source prices for the assets in a trade (e.g. BTC vs ETH)

  • Exchange-specific spread differences (normally under 5%)

What Can You Do?

  • Edit the asset value manually for the affected trade on the Transactions page.

  • Use the Trade Prices page to check value spreads across assets.

  • A difference of up to 5% is common and not necessarily an error.

Example

You sell 1 BTC and receive 10 ETH.

  • CoinTracking might show BTC valued at $3,200

  • ETH valued at only $3,100 in total
→ A small spread like this is expected.

If the gap is significant, double-check:

  • The timestamp

  • Price source

  • Exchange used

  • Manual asset value input
