TL;DR: The Trades Backup page allows you to create secure backups of your entire CoinTracking transaction history with a single click. This feature ensures that you can restore your data at any time, for example after accidental changes, incorrect imports, or when preparing for larger adjustments.
Create a New Backup
At the top of the page, you can create a new transaction backup.
Comment Field (optional)
You can enter a comment or label to help identify the backup later, such as “Pre-Tax Filing” or “Before API Import”.
Backup Button
Click the button labeled Backup all X transactions to create a backup. The number shown reflects the total number of transactions currently stored in your account.
All transaction data is included in the backup, including trades, deposits, withdrawals, and transfers.
Your Existing Backups
Below the backup section, the Your existing backups table lists all previously created backups.
Users can store up to 20 backups. If all backup slots are used, an older backup must be deleted before a new one can be created.
The table includes the following columns:
Backup number
Backup date
Number of transactions included
Comment entered during backup creation
Restore from backup, which fully restores your transaction history to that backup state
Delete backup, which removes the backup to free up a slot
If no backups exist yet, the table displays the message: “You don’t have any backups yet.”
Portfolio Summary
On the right side of the page, a portfolio summary provides an overview of your current holdings.
The summary includes:
Digital coins, showing the value of your crypto holdings
Currencies, showing the value of fiat balances
Sum of coins and sum of currencies
Total value, representing the net portfolio value
Additional options in the summary panel:
Sorting by name, amount, or value
Currency display toggle to switch between EUR and BTC
Filter to hide coins below or equal to a specified BTC value
Last update timestamp indicating when the data was most recently refreshed
Notes
It is recommended to create backups regularly, especially before major actions such as API imports or bulk transaction edits.
Restoring a backup will overwrite all current transactions in your account, so ensure that this is intentional before proceeding.
Using descriptive comments helps distinguish different backup versions and simplifies backup management.
