TL;DR: CoinTracking's membership tiers are based on your total lifetime transaction count, not your annual trading volume. Every account gets a 7-day Free Trial with unlimited imports (note: the trial does not allow a full tax report download). The Free Plan includes Exchange API imports for up to 200 lifetime transactions. The Starter Plan adds tax report access at a low cost and is enough for traders who don't need automatic API syncing. Higher tiers (Pro, Expert S/M/L, Unlimited) support larger transaction volumes and add backups, priority support, and more linked accounts/wallets. How is my membership tier determined?
Your required plan is based on the total number of transactions ever recorded in your account (all-time, cumulative), not your yearly trading volume. This means the transaction count never resets. It keeps growing as you add more trades, deposits, withdrawals, etc., across all imported sources.
What is included in the Free Plan?
As of July 3, 2025, the Free Plan includes:
Up to 200 total transactions (lifetime, not annual)
Manual, CSV, Blockchain, and Exchange API imports
Full portfolio tracking and mobile app access
No tax report access
No backups or daily sync
All users also receive a 7-day Free Trial upon signup or account reactivation, which unlocks unlimited imports and allows full testing of the platform. Note that the trial does not include the ability to download a complete tax report. This remains reserved for paid plans. On request, support can also manually assign an additional 1-week trial license in certain cases.
What is the Starter Plan?
The Starter Plan is a new low-cost tier for users who need tax reporting but have fewer transactions. It includes:
Up to 200 transactions (including taxable ones)
Tax report access
Backup availability
Import support for all major methods
The Starter Plan supports manual API imports, but it does not include daily automatic wallet/exchange sync. That feature is reserved for higher tiers. If you don't need automatic syncing, a CSV import works just as well as an API connection and can be used as an alternative. For traders who don't rely on API auto-sync, the Starter Plan is generally sufficient.
What's in the Pro Plan?
The Pro Plan is designed for regular traders:

Full access to tax reports, API, CSV, and Blockchain imports
All linked accounts (up to 10) upgraded
Expert and Unlimited Plans
For heavy users or professionals:

Can I link multiple CoinTracking accounts together?
Yes. CoinTracking supports a multi-account feature that lets you link several accounts together, for example to manage accounts for family members or separate business/personal portfolios under one plan.
Important points to know:
Each person should ideally use their own separate account rather than sharing a single login.
When accounts are linked, the transaction limit of the plan is shared across all linked accounts combined. It is not multiplied per account.

Note: CoinTracking does not offer monthly licenses. Only 1-year, 2-year, and Lifetime terms are available. Also, charges are processed in USD by default, not your local currency. If you pay in EUR or another currency, your bank/card provider converts the USD amount, which can cause small apparent price differences compared to the listed local price.
Do plans reset annually?
No. Transaction limits are lifetime totals, not annual. Your full history is used for all tax reports.
What happens if I downgrade below my transaction count?
If you downgrade to a plan whose transaction limit is lower than your account's current total transaction count, you will be blocked from adding new transactions until you either upgrade again or reduce your transaction count below the new plan's limit. Tax reports and other premium features will also be locked until your account is back within the limit of your active plan.
The only supported way to reduce your transaction count is to merge/consolidate trades of the same trading pair that share an identical timestamp. Keep in mind:
Deleting older transactions is not recommended, since this changes your cost basis and will retroactively distort your tax reports.
When merging trades, the original Trade ID is lost. To prevent the merged trades from being re-imported, you need to set a start date in the corresponding API import job.
Can I upgrade my plan later?
Yes. Upgrades are discounted based on the remaining value (unused days) of your current plan, which is credited as a discount toward the total price of the new plan.
Example: Upgrade from Expert S ($1199) to Expert M ($1599): you only pay the $400 difference.
For Lifetime plans, the remaining value is calculated over a 10-year period.
Example: If you purchase a Lifetime plan for €1000 and upgrade after 3 years, you will still receive approximately €700 credit towards the higher plan.
If you've just upgraded and change your mind shortly afterward, you can request a refund instead of downgrading. Reach out to support to discuss this option.
If you purchase multiple products/plans on the same day, each product is billed and charged separately, rather than combined into a single transaction.
Note: the Full Service Expert Check is a separate, additional service and is not included in any membership price. It must be booked separately even if you already hold a paid plan.
Are there discounts or vouchers available?
A 10% discount code/referral link is available for plan upgrades.
Paying with BTC grants an additional 5% discount.
CoinTracking occasionally runs sales and promotions (for example around Black Friday), but there is no guarantee that such deals will be repeated in the future.
Returning customers may sometimes receive a voucher/discount offer, but there are no dedicated loyalty or "legacy" discounts for existing customers beyond the standard discount codes and seasonal offers described above.
To apply a discount code, enter it at checkout when purchasing or upgrading your plan.
Does my subscription renew automatically?
Yes, 1-year and 2-year subscriptions renew automatically at the end of the term unless cancelled beforehand.
To avoid automatic renewal, you need to cancel your subscription before the renewal date via your account settings (or by contacting support). Cancelling only stops future billing. It does not delete your data or immediately remove access (see below).
If your plan renews automatically and you decide afterward that you'd rather downgrade, note that there is no automatic process to retroactively refund the price difference. This needs to be handled as a manual request.
If you cancel your subscription, you're still able to subscribe again later, including taking advantage of any new offers or discounts that may be running at that time.

If you pay for an upgrade in BTC and the amount sent doesn't fully cover the required price (e.g. due to price fluctuation), you'll need to pay the remaining balance separately to complete the upgrade. For individual adjustments to crypto payments, support can forward your request to the specialized payments team.
You can also change your Credit card: Either cancel the subscription and repurchase with a new card or contact support. Cancelling the subscription affects only the payment, not your account access.
What happens to my data if my plan expires?
Your data stays safe. You'll lose access to API syncs and tax report generation until renewal, but no transactions are deleted.
Can I get help setting up my account or generating my tax report?
CoinTracking offers a Full Service option, where staff can assist with account setup and tax report creation on your behalf. This is a separate, bookable service and is not included in the standard membership price of any plan.
How do I request a refund or cancel my subscription?
If you'd like to cancel your subscription or request a refund, use the designated refund request process/form, or contact support directly to initiate the request.
